Joyce Veazey

Joyce has loved art since grade school and high school. She has enjoyed the encouragement of various art teachers from whom she feels she has learned a lot over the years. She is always taking more classes to further develop her skill.
Working in acrylics and oils, Joyce combines color and texture, using different types of paper and other mediums in her paintings. In her studio she applies paint with both brush and palette knife, working from photographs of landscapes, seascapes, and other subjects she finds interesting. She also enjoys painting from her memories and her original thoughts. Some of her palette-knife paintings have been abstract and impressionist style.
Joyce has participated in local art shows where she has won Best of Show and other honors. She has exhibited her work at Primary Colors Gallery in Independence, Missouri, and St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit as well as coffee shops and other venues.
Joyce is a member of Summit Art Club and Raytown Artists’ Association, where she is correspondence secretary, responsible for the monthly newsletter and other things. Among her duties is the distribution of invitations and applications for the annual Raytown Arts Invitational Art Show in August.
She is currently working on getting her own website up and running.
